Youth Students under Hope of Family’s Youth Economic Empowerment Program Gain Practical Tailoring Skills on Study Trip in Muhanga District

Last week, a group of enthusiastic youth students delving into the art of tailoring embarked on an insightful study trip to a prominent tailoring industry nestled in Muhanga District. This excursion marked a pivotal moment for these budding tailors as they had the invaluable opportunity to witness firsthand the practical application of their studies.The initiative, organized by a Hope of Family, aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application for youth enrolled in tailoring courses. Of the 49 students currently enrolled, 24 participated in the study trip, showcasing the program's commitment to empowering young individuals with practical skills.Speaking on the significance of the trip, a representative of Hope of Family in field of Education Programs highlighted the role in providing youth with opportunities to express themselves and explore their potential in a professional setting. The students had the chance to learn directly from experienced tailors, gaining insights into the intricacies of the trade and witnessing firsthand the application of techniques they've been studying.This initiative holds particular importance in the context of youth unemployment, which stands at 34% in the area of operation, with 66% of unemployed youth having not completed high school. The program seeks to address this challenge by providing alternative pathways for education and skill development, with a focus on reintegrating youth into Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) schools.e trade and witnessing firsthand the application of techniques they've been studying.

Currently, 49 youth are enrolled in various TVET subjects, indicating the program's success in attracting and supporting youth who may have otherwise missed out on educational opportunities. Through practical experiences like the recent study trip, these young individuals are not only acquiring valuable skills but also gaining confidence and motivation to pursue meaningful careers in the tailoring industry and beyond.
